THE BOY WITH A THORN IN HIS SIDE
I’ve been obsessed with the idea of finding art in the mundane for many years. My interest with photography is to portray the familiar as a constructed abstract representation. I want to capture the beauty I see in my surroundings and reveal it in a new, displaced context, a new realm. Just as DeKooning created paintings that blended traditional forms with a sense of ambiguity, I want to "paint" Abstract Expressionism photographs.
Je suis depuis de nombreuses années habité par l’idée de trouver l’art dans le profane. La photographie a pour moi vocation a représenter le familier comme un abstrait construit. Je veux capturer la beauté qui m’entoure au quotidien et la révéler dans un contexte nouveau, décalé, un nouvel univers. Tout comme DeKonning créa des tableaux mêlant des formes traditionnelles à une certaine ambiguité, je veux “peindre” me photagraphies à la manière de l’expressionisme abstrait.
Mi intención como artista es el presentar una nueva visión de la realidad cotidiana. Con mi arte y el medio de la fotografía, mi interés es el representar lo familiar en una “abstracción” construida con mi visión y relacionada con mi mundo. Yo quiero capturar la belleza de nuestros alrededores mundanos y presentarlos con una nueva realización. Tal y como el artista DeKooning creó pinturas que mezclaban formas tradicionales con un estilo ambiguo, yo quiero crear, en teoría alegórica, obras de arte que mezclan las tendencias del Expresionismo Abstracto con el Fotorrealismo.
Seit Jahren beschäftigt mich intensiv die Idee Kunst im Profanen zu entdecken. Meine Beschäftigung mit Photographie hat zum Ziel das Gewohnte als konstruiertes Abstraktes darzustellen. Ich möchte das Schöne in meiner alltäglichen Umgebung einfangen und in einem neuen,ausgelösten Zusammenhang, einer neuen Bezugswelt, darstellen. So wie DeKooning Bilder kreierte, welche traditionelle Formen mit einer gewissen Mehrdeutigkeit verknüpften, möchte ich Photographien im Stil des Abstrakten Expressionismus «malen».
